The project elegantly weaves two key elements together: a respectful nod to the existing square’s heritage, achieved by artfully reshaping it in harmony with pedestrian patterns and surrounding monuments, and a visionary reinvention of the square as a dynamic space for communal creation. The current layout centers on the iconic Leonardo monument, strategically aligned with visual corridors and foot traffic. Skillful alterations to this geometric blueprint, along with the thoughtful relocation of the monument, seamlessly remove any visual or practical clashes. This process enhances the synergy between the square’s monumental features. This transformation also birthed an amphitheater, an innovative reflection of the theater’s interior, which seamlessly coexists with existing paths while drawing attention to Teatro La Scala’s heart. A square-like pedestrian link ushers visitors beneath magnificent arches, fostering a captivating interplay with Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and Cathedral. The amphitheater’s contours dissolve barriers, merging the Square and nearby structures. Symbolically, it forges a harmonious passage, where bustling streets vanish from view. The outcome is an open-air theater, a vibrant contrast to the subterranean counterpart. One beckons inclusivity, embracing all hours and performers.
